Banjarbaru City is located on the island of Borneo, precisely in South Kalimantan Province. Perhaps not many people know that Banjarbaru city has now become the capital of South Kalimantan Province, which was previously placed in the city of Banjarmasin. Banjarbaru City has been designated as the capital city of South Kalimantan since 2022.
Last week, on May 16-17, 2023 to be precise, I was assigned to go to Banjarbaru City to conduct a survey of computer equipment that will be used by the State University of Malang Independent Test. This task was carried out at SMKN 2 Banjarbaru. This is my first experience in the city. Not only was it my first time in the city, it was also my first time on the island of Kalimantan.
Flying Alone
On assignment to Banjarbaru City I also got another new experience, namely going on a plane alone. I had never traveled by plane alone. Usually, if there is an assignment that requires boarding an airplane, at least two people are assigned. Even though I boarded the plane alone, I didn’t have to bother taking care of the tickets because the plane tickets for going and returning had already been bought. In addition, the hotel has also been booked.
There are some things that are less fun when boarding a plane alone. For example, when we have to wait for the time to enter the plane there is no friend to chat with. If for example we want to go to the toilet we have to carry all our luggage to the toilet because there are no friends who can be entrusted. When I went home yesterday I brought 3 bags, a laptop bag, a clothes bag and a souvenir bag. Because it was too complicated if I had to carry it all, I finally left the souvenir bag in the waiting seat.
One nice thing about flying alone is that we are free to manage our time. We are not bound by the wishes of our traveling companions. Besides that, I can also enjoy being alone in a strange city. I think this is very pleasant.
Traveling around Banjarbaru City
Because I was alone, I took the time to go around the city by taking a Gocar. I tried to go to Lambung Mangkurat University. The GoCar driver took me around Lambung Mangkurat University. Actually, I also wanted to enter the rainbow village, unfortunately the tour had to go and it could take a long time. So I abandoned my intention.
Actually, there are many tours in Banjarbaru if we look at google maps. But unfortunately I couldn’t see them one by one due to time constraints. At 12 o’clock I had to leave the hotel and head to the airport.
